Orbital Sanders

Orbital sanders, unlike the random orbital sander, only rotate in one circular pattern. Due to this, it has the potential to leave detrimental scratch marks if used to sand perpendicular to the grain. It is designed more for rough projects and not finishing sanding. If you are interested in finish sanders please see our article about them. If you are wanting to remove a finish or paint from a project then an orbital sander is great for the job. It also does wonders on stair treads and along baseboards.

Manufacturers such as DeWalt, Bosch, Porter-Cable, and Makita among others all make a corded orbital sander. However, Dewalt does make a cordless model that uses the 20v MAX XR batteries. It also uses the DWV9000 universal quick connector, that we mentioned in our article about random orbital sanders, so you can easily move your vacuuming system from another tool to this one with ease.

Our research, testing, and comparing orbital sanders is still ongoing. With that being said we would enjoy any user feedback you would like to give us on orbital sanders. Have you found one brand to be better than another? If so just fill out the form at the bottom of the page.
